Here is an original 1990 Williams Whirlwind playfield.   Williams made two versions of this playfield.  One was called ‘Diamond Plate’ and had a Dupont brand clear coating.  The other one was the non-Diamond Plate version with a lacquer coating.  This is the lacquer version.  The factory mylar had to be removed and then the playfield was clear coated.   This lacquer coating that was used in 1990 tends to have adhesion issues with the inserts and can be seen under the artwork as cracks or white/gray dots/spots.  This is common on these SYS11 lacquer coated playfields.  Click here for more information.
