THEATRE OF MAGIC (Bally 1995)
THEATRE OF MAGIC (Bally 1995)
Here is a 1995 Bally Theatre of Magic playfield. This is one of the Sun Process made TOM playfield that commonly found on games outside the USA. Most of the USA (120 volt) Theatre of Magic games were made with the TAG (Thomas A. Grant) playfields. Click here to see the differences. This playfield had a lot of issues. The original paint was losing adhesion with the wood (lifting) and the inserts had a lot of fade (lost of color) to them. Plus it had the usual insert wear, damage in the gold ‘Tonight’s Illusions’ area, ball drop areas, in front of the trunk, and insert artwork damage under the trap door kickout. Dealing with paint adhesion issues is almost a deal breaker when restoring playfields. You can not fix adhesion issues with the wood surface and the original artwork without totally removing all the original paint. The key is to keep as much of the original artwork as possible and try to get all the surfaces to bond together.
